Johnson: (laughs) That is probably one of the hardest questions. I don’t think anyone has every asked me that before. I was very active and I was involved in a lot. I ran track, I was apart of the Debate Team, I was part of the Professional Social Club, and I took a lot of different classes. From Spanish to different Biology classes. I was very fascinated with biology. So I would say in high school I was kind of all over the place because I didn’t know what I wanted to do in life. So I tried a bunch of things. Breanna: What’s the most important lesson you learned in high school? Johnson: It’s been awhile since I’ve been in high school but I would probably have to say that I think it is important for you to treat people like you want to be treated. It’s important not to bully and not be mean to people, like gossiping and making fun of people. In high school it is very easy to get caught up in the negativity because everyone are growing, your bodies are changing and people are going through awkward phases. So I think it is important for you to treat people the way you want to be treated. If you don’t want to be made fun of, then don’t do it to someone else. That’s the most important thing I’ve learned. Breanna: Why did you decide to go to college? And what did you study? Johnson: I decided to go to college because honestly I didn’t have a choice. I was the sixth generation in my family to go to college so it was very expected that I go. For me there was no other alternative because I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I graduated from high school. College is on of those places that you get exposed to different careers paths. To me it was a no brainer! You go to college so you can learn more then graduated and get a good job. I studied Business Administration in college. Breanna: Can you tell us about Travelista? Johnson: I love Travelista! It is a company that I started with my business partner. We decided to create a company and job for ourselves. We wanted to travel the world, inspire other people to travel, and tell our story through video. Now Travelista is a pretty big company and we get paid to travel and have fun. Breanna: Why did you start Travelista? Johnson: I started Travelista because I love traveling, meeting people from other cultures, experiencing different foods, and learning different languages. I wanted to figure out how I could do this for the rest of my life. I choose Travelista, so I could make money and live out of my passion, dreams, and what I want to do. Breanna: What is the best part about traveling? Johnson: The best part about traveling for me is being exposed to other ways of life and other cultures. I get to take little bits of peaces from other places and cultures and add it to my life. It enhances my life and I have an open mind about things, food, and art. So it really allows my mind to be more open and be more creative. And it makes me happy! Breanna: What’s your favorite place to travel? Johnson: Breanna this is a very hard question! You are talking to someone who has been to a lot of places (laughs). But I would really have to say that I love South Africa. I like it because there is so much history, culture, archaeology, nature, music, and the people are beautiful. The first known fossils or origin of man was from South Africa. It has everything! Breanna: Is there a place you haven’t traveled that you would like to? Johnson: Yes! There are so many but I would have to say the Galapagos Islands. They are off the coast of Ecuador and Peru. There are a bunch of island that were never inhabited by people so there were no natural predators. There are Tortoises living there that are hundreds of years old. There are very unique species of all sorts in the Galapogos Islands and I would love to go there and explore and see that for myself, instead of just watching it on National Geographic.
